Sipplinger Berg Waterworks
The Lake Constance Water Supply Authority extracts more than 130 million m³ of water every year from locations 60 m below the lake’s surface. EVERZIT® N plays an essential part in ensuring clear and pure supply from Europe’s biggest drinking water reservoir to some four million consumers in surrounding areas.
The Sipplinger Berg treatment plant, an indoor facility comprising 27 multilayer filter units with an overall filter surface of approx. 3000 m², removes all turbidity and virtually eliminates microbiological contamination in the water processed. The high-speed filter beds contain a 40 cm layer of EVERZIT® N and a 60 cm layer of quartz sand. The coarse-grained EVERZIT®N layer ensures high filtration efficiency. Extended operation cycles of the filter media are realized by volume filtration which also reduces water and energy costs associated with backwashing. The EVERZIT® N multilayer filters are cleaned by sequential air blowing and water flushing.
Used as the upper layer in these multilayer filter beds, EVERZIT® N increases treatment capacity and reduces operating costs by providing specific benefits:
